This summer, I am interning with the in their Ticket and Fan Services Department. I chose the Eagles because I want to work in the NFL full-time, so getting some internship experience with a well-established NFL team will help. I was a sport management major as an undergrad, and that is a field I am very passionate about. I am also a fan of the Eagles, so working for a team I support is cool.

My expectations for this internship are to gain a lot of skills in a variety of capacities. I know that working events are part of the internship, so I am looking forward to working the sporting events, concerts, charity events, etc. I hope to learn how a large organization such as the Eagles operates and how communication is done. Working with so many people can be daunting, so seeing how things translate across departments and what role each person plays will be of interest to me.

From this experience, I hope to gain a large network of people within the Eagles organization. I want to establish myself as a hardworking individual who is known by the higher-ups. My ultimate goal is to become NFL Commissioner one day, and if I can work my way up in the Eagles organization in three short months, then, hopefully, that bodes well for my future goal.

‘I am grateful for everything I have learned’

The sport industry is smaller than many people think, so having a lot of connections here that I can leverage wherever I end up will help me in my career. I also hope to gain a lot of hard skills that will help boost my resume and make me more appealing to future employers. Since I will be graduating with my MBA in a year, I want to be as prepared as possible when I go into that first full-time job.

One thing I’ve learned at the University is the importance of networking and interacting with people. Something that is a large focus in the classroom is how to hold yourself to a high standard and how to act professionally in the workplace. When dealing with customers, it is easy to get frustrated answering the same questions or dealing with aggressive people, but the ability to de-escalate situations and answer phone calls with the same amount of enthusiasm is something that I know will help me to stand out.

I have learned these things from my classes with Dr. Mumcu and Professor Stewart. They always try and hold the sport management students to a high standard, and I feel that since I have been held to that standard for the past three years, I am used to trying to impress and standing out to executives.

Overall, I have been able to apply my skills from the classroom to the workplace, and I am grateful for everything I have learned thus far.
